The first handicap of the season in connection with the above club was run from headquarters, Oarside Farm, last Saturday, when 18 members turned out.
The race was held over a course of four miles, by way of Wallasey Church, the Marshes, and cross country towards the golf links, returning via Green-lane, Grove-road, and Hose Side, and finishing at the bottom of Mount Pleasant road. A close race was run, the following being the result, with the time of each competitor :- 1, E. Bale, 27min.; 2, D. Don 26min. 49secs.; 3, P. G. Boyd, 27min. 38secs.; 4, H. Hanmer, 26min. 15secs.; 5, R. Young, 25min. 35secs.; 6, A. S. Hanmer, 30min. 30secs.; 7, W. S. Griffiths, 28min. 40secs.; 8, G. H. Spence, 27min. 0secs.; 9, G. R. Low, 29min. 2secs.; 10, J. J. Eivers, 27mins. 30secs.; 11, H. J. Wilcox, 27min. 45secs.; 12, W. G. Lace, 28min. 2secs.
To-day the club will encounter Homecroft Harriers in a run through of seven or eight miles. The event is being looked forward to with great interest and excitement by both clubs, so that the finish will probably be well worth seeing. The teams will return by Steel-avenue and Seabank-road, finishing at the corner of Manor-lane.
