The above club held their opening run for the season on Saturday last, a distance of about 7½ miles being covered.
The country was in excellent condition, and the pack were under the control of the able captain (Mr. A. G. Nicholson), who set a fine easy pace. Indeed, matters were taken that easily that once or twice several of the members went off blackberrying, one runner especially showing a great partiality for the fruit. Several new men were out, and it was with great satisfaction that one saw H. S. Heald (late of Richmond) and R. J. Lowes (late of West Cheshire), who have now thrown in their lot with Wallasey. Both very good men, and, all being well, they will materially increase the strength of the club in the district championship. Nearly all the old members have signified their intention of running again this season, but - whether it was owing to the boat or the Boy Scout sports, one cannot say - there were several absentees.
To-day (Saturday) there is the monstre meet at Warrington, and for members not attending this there will be an ordinary club run from headquarters, Fairhaven Institute. Seaview-road, at 3.30 p.m. prompt, when now members will be heartily welcomed.
Application forms for membership may be had from the hon. secretary and treasurer. Mr. H. R. Scoins, "Edale," Withens-lane, Liscard, who will be pleased to give intending members all information with regard to the club.
