On Saturday afternoon the above club met Liverpool H. & A.C. and Boundary H. at Wavertree. The weather was splendid, and there were about fifty runners out.
The pack were under the general control of G. N. White (Liverpool), who piloted the runners over a course of about five miles of light country at an easy pace in the direction of Woolton, Roby and Childwall, prior to a race over the last mile. Great interest had been taken in this event, and many were the conjectures as to which team would be successful, and also as to who would be the first man home. However, the Wallasey men. who are going strong this year, not only won by 24 points, but also placed the first two men, these being A. G. Nicholson and C. H. Spence. The first six men home of each team were as follows:-
Wallasey A.C. - A. G. Nicholson 1. C. H. Spence 2, R. Young 5, T. J. Brookes 6, R. J. Lowes 8, H. R. Scoins 12; total, 34 points.
Liverpool. - A. Parkinson 3, A. Middleton 4, C. J. Russell 9, L. W. Lee 13, W. Bibby 14, G. Olley, 15; total, 58 points.
Boundary - R. Evans 7, H. H. Herbert 10, A. Chadwick 11, A. O'Neill 16, L. Dethloff 19, F. Pollock 21; total, 84 points.
To-day there is an ordinary club run from headquarters, the Fairhaven Institute, Seaview-road, Liscard, when new members will be heartily welcomed. Next week the five mile handicap takes place from headquarters.
