On Saturday the above club held an ordinary run from headquarters. Two packs were out, the "slows" and the " fasts,'' the former being paced by W. J. Pinfold and the latter by A. G. Nicholson.
A course of about six miles was covered, including about a mile of shore. The country was very heavy, and all the men were "slightly" soiled. The feature of the run was the splendid running of H. S. Mellander, the well-known Olympic champion, who has now regained his old form.
This afternoon there is the Christmas handicap, when a large number of prizes will be given. Members are particularly requested to be at headquarters not later than three o'clock, so that the race may be finished before dark. Tonight there is a smoker and social at the headquarters, Fairhaven Institute, open to members and friends, at which the prizes for the afternoon's race will be presented. The function will commence at 7.30 p.m., and all members are requested to make a special effort to be present.
