Next Saturday is 'Juniors' day. The N.C.A.A. Junior Championships are being held at the L.B.A. Ground, Long Lane, Fazakerley, at 3 p.m.
The cream of the North's 'under-19's' will be on view and judging from recent results in open meetings, etc., I can see Merseyside retaining a few of the honours. Our own V. M. Tindall should do well in the quarter mile and the long jump, and A. Handley, of Pembroke, looks a good thing for the half-mile. Edwards, of Merchant Taylor's School, is certain to be placed in the 120 yds. hurdles. Liverpool Harriers have a host of promising, juniors and in particular a very good high jumper, and though the 'Canaries' are keeping very quiet I expect that more than one of J. C. Rice's proteges will collect medals. The junior stars of 1946 will be the Olympic stars of 1948 and the chance of seeing this meeting should not be missed.
Local inter-club meetings take place on week-day evenings and some keen competition is to be witnessed on these occasions. Wallasey A.C. is holding its own in both league competitions, but they could do a lot better with a bit more practical support.
