Nearly 300 runners, representing 35 clubs, will fight out the Northern Senior Cross-Country Championship over a nine mile course at Radcliffe, near Oldham, to-day, the first championship to be hold since 1939. Juniors and youths' races will also be decided over six and three miles respectively.
Wallasey Athletic Club is represented in the senior and youths divisions, and a special coach is taking competitors and supporters direct to the venue,
Next Saturday the Liverpool & District Cross-Country Championships will be held at Woolton, the Senior over seven miles and youths over three miles. The junior championship (18:21) will not take place, and Wallasey A.C., as holders, retain the Whitty Shield for another year.
Strengthened by the recent demobilisation of B. O. Kivlin and R. C. Leach, the Wallasey senior team is capable of holding most of the best clubs, whilst, the youths' team, led by the Wallasey Grammar School runner, G. A. Walker should give a good account of itself in the local championship.
