The senior and youths' Cross-Country Championships of Wallasey Athletic Club will be held at Wallasey to-day.
J. Edwards, who won the senior championship in three successive years, 1936, 1937 and 1938, will be out to regain the title won in 1939 by N. Marples, when Edwards was a non-starter. A strong challenge will be made by G. Williams, the stylish young runner who is rapidly coming to the forefront. A. P. Watson, third in 1939, and R. Leach, the Services International runner, will also be in action.
The youth's championship should be a fight between G. A. Walker, recent Novice Championship winner, and J. Wales, of the R.A.F., with D. Kelly challenging them both.
Newcomers will be catered for at the H.Q. in Green Lane on any Saturday afternoon, slow packs being a regular feature.
