Wallasey's youths team achieved their greatest victory to date when they won the Cheshire Youths championship at Bromborough on Saturday. Their close packing 2nd, 4th, 7th and 8th positions ensured a safe margin of three points over the second team, Wirral A.C.
K Ledward ran a well judged race to finish second to long-legged M. E. Morrell of Wirral A.C., Ledward's time for the course was 14:53, against Morrell's time of 14:45; Wallasey's other counting men; D. Anderson 4th, E. Maddock 7th; H. Foot 8th;, all ran well, particularly Foot, who ran over half the distance in one shoe, having lost the other in the mud.
In the senior Cheshire County championship R. Johnston stop finished seventh and by this effort merited his selection for the Cheshire team in the inter-counties event.
Wallasey senior team finished fifth in the championships placing R. Johnston 7th, A. Dinsdale 28th, J. Arkles 40th, J. McFarland 48th, K.Cockshott 51st and E. C. Foster 52nd.
Today the club entertains Liverpool Pembroke and Liverpool Boundary harriers at Leasowe Road at 3:15 p.m.
