On Saturday last a good turnout of W.A.C. runners continued their early season training in wet conditions.
While senior's and juniors had quite a fast run over 8 miles the W.A.C. West Lancs. novice team virtually completed their preparation for to-day's race by putting in some very brisk work over a 4 mile road course.
Although club hopes of being placed in this championship have received a setback by the unexpected ineligibility of J. Lynch and A. Lilley, the team are very fit and hope to give a creditable performance.
performance.
The selected team is Bob McCaig (captain), A. Clarke, R. Scammell, J. Winrow, J. Cockshott, W. J. Johnston, and B. Johnston.
The Cheshire County Championships will be held next Saturday at Northwich when W.A.C. will be represented in both the senior and the youth race, which was so well won by the club youth team last year.
Club teams and supporters will travel to Northwich by coach and any members or friends of the club who may wish to go are asked to contact Cross-Country Secretary, Ray Wooley, 8 Bradman Road, Moreton (Tel. Birkenhead 1580, Ext. 9 ) as soon as possible. Tickets are now available for the club's New Year's Eve Dance to be held at the Grosvenor Ballroom, and can he obtained from D.
