New York Marathon - 26.21 Miles - Sunday 03 November 2019 | |||||||||
Karl Bunnell completed the New York Marathon 2019 in a personal best time of 03:52:34. After the race Karl said "What an amazing experience it was too! Waking up at 3am (unintentionally), out the hotel at 4:30 am, on the coach by 6am and at the start by 7am. After a 3+ hour wait and a ton of free bagels and Gatorade we set off across the first of 5 bridges connecting all 5 boroughs of NYC. Literally over a million people across the city were out in support which provided much needed encouragement and emotional support as the biting winds took me a while to warm up. Things went great completing 21 miles in 3 hours before it all went south to the finish line as my legs packed in and my body was relentlessly screaming for food, water and rest making it a real battle to get to the end. But get there I did. It was a day I'll never forget and the trip as a whole far matches today's race entirely with stories I feel that I'll be telling for the rest of my life." |
