Joe Boden knocked one minute off his personal best at the Wilmslow Festive 10K, Joe finished in a spritely 30:54 for 8th place. Chris Jones also had a great run finishing in 34:27. The race started in the town centre and the one lap course was described as perfect for fast times ran on scenic country roads, before finishing on Mobberley Road/Sandy Lane (just over 1-mile away). |

Conwy Half Marathon - 13.11 Miles - Sunday 21 November 2021 | |||||||||
Steve Cosgrove set a personal best when he completed the Conwy Half Marathon in 01:27:31. The start & finish was near the quayside in front of the 700 plus year old Conwy Castle. The route ran along the road adjacent to the Conwy River and proceeded towards Deganwy beach and the West Shore Llandudno, from there it went along church Walks towards Llandudno Pier, then around the Great Orme taking in views of the Isle of Anglesey, Puffin Island and the surrounding North Wales coastline, then back to Conwy and the finish line. Mary Rees had an age category win completing the course in 01:52. |

The race started at the Royal Albert Dock and took in the city centre, including some of the city's most iconic buildings, music, sporting and cultural landmarks in an all-inclusive tour of the city. The Silverdale Circuit started from Milnthorpe in Cumbria, the route was 21 miles in length and passed through Dalham Deer Park, Leighton Moss Nature Reserve, alongside Hawes Water and then on to single track along the stunning coastline. An ascent of Arnside Knott was followed by an opportunity to climb the Fairy Steps where you would have a wish granted if you reach the top without touching the sides. The highest points offered outstanding views of Morecambe Bay and The Lakes. Phil and Caet Cuthbert finished in 4:32 and 5:32 respectively. |

Chester Marathon - 26.21 Miles - Sunday 03 October 2021 | |||||||||
The Chester Marathon route was described as both historic and scenic. Runners left Chester Racecourse and headed into the City centre passed the Town Hall, Cathedral, split level Middle Ages "Rows", Eastgate Clock, Amphitheatre and through the Roman Walls before heading out of the City across the Old Dee Bridge. The route then left Chester passed the Duke of Westminster's estate, through Pulford, before crossing the border into Wales and the villages of Lavister and Rossett, completed a small loop before entering the historic village of Holt. Then crossed the ancient Roman bridge at Farndon to return to England and the home stretch ran through Churton, Aldford and Huntington. On the way back into the City, runners passed the River Dee to finish in Grosvenor Park. Mark Carruthers led the Wallasey AC runners home in 3:02 and not far behing was Neil Toner in 3:06. Jane Brealey was first lady for the club in 3:53. |

The North West Road Relays incorporated the county championships of Merseyside, Greater Manchester, Cheshire, Lancashire and Cumbria and were hosted at Birchwood Business Park, Birchwood, Warrington. The men's race consisted of four 5.8km legs. Wallasey AC men's team finished 12th in 01:18:23, Joe Boden was off first and returned in 18:10, Rob Pearse was off next and returned in 20:03, Jack Poland ran the third leg in 20:11 and Chris Jones ran the anchor leg in 19:59. The Bristol Epic Trail 10k took place in Ashton Court Estate, Bristol. The estate covers 850 acres of woods and grasslands in total which boast magnificent old oak trees and the deer graze in an estate that first became a deer park over 600 years ago. Tough Runner UK hosted the race on a course that contained some epic hills. Phil Bird described the race as tough and Phil finished in 01:02 for 491st place. |

Five of the club's runners completed the Tour of Merseyside. The tour includes six races over seven days and covers 52 miles over differing terrains. Steve Cosgrove was first home for the club completing the 52 miles in an aggregate total of 6:17 for 27th overall, nor far behind was Steve Clarke in 6:27 (33rd) and first lady for the club in 8th place was Michelle Alty who also picked up an age category win. All the runners showed great perseverance and stamina to complete this grueling challenge. |

Race 4 of the Tour of Merseyside was the Raging Red Bull 5 in Otterspool. The race started on the grassed area by the Red Bull Monument and headed north along the promenade, as far as the Britannia Pub where there was a 180 degree turn to bring runners back to complete the 5 mile leg. The runners were encouraged to were fancy dress. |

Runners had one week to upload a 5K run using Strava, Garmin etc. and a photo and run from their home if possible and follow the guidelines for staying a safe distance. Finish time was 8.00pm on Wednesday 30th June. 11 runners from the club uploaded their effort with Mike Dyson posting the fastest time of 20:00 for ninth place. First lady for the club was Vicky Kehoe in 24:08 for 8th lady. Jan McArd used her rest day on the Tour of Merseyside to complete the race! |

10 Wallasey AC runners took part in the Southport Half Marathon the course was a traffic free route which included Lord Street in the town centre and a start/finish area with live music and entertainment. The route is the only running event in the history of Southport to be permitted to close Lord Street to traffic and allow participants to run through the heart of this famous seaside resort. First home for the club were Steve Brealey 01:24:07 (44th) and Becky Blacklock 01:38:10 (12th). |

Wallasey AC runners returned to racing at the Colshaw Hall 10k run at Colshaw Hall Country Estate near Knutsford. The race started in the shadow of this beautiful grade II listed building in the Cheshire Village of Over Peover. The race snaked through closed leafy country lanes passing the iconic Lovell telescope at Jodrell Bank. Runners then returned to Colshaw Hall to finish along the tree lined driveway. The second race of the Seaside Run Series was run as a Virtual 5K. Runners had one week to upload a 5K run using Strava, Garmin etc. and a photo and run from their home if possible and follow the guidelines for staying a safe distance. Finish time was 8.00pm on Wednesday 28th April. 15 runners from the club uploaded their effort with Rob Pearse posting the fastest time of 17:12 for third place. There were age category wins for Rob and Michelle Alty. |

The RunTatton Half Marathon started and finished outside Capesthorne Hall and ran around the flat and rural closed roads of Cheshire. Vicky Kehoe had her first race for a while and clocked an impressive 01:44 for 68th lady and third in her age category. 932 runners completed the race. |

The Derwentwater Dawdle was a challenging but beautiful 24 mile self navigated route that takes in three tough ascents totalling 4300ft as the runners complete a full circuit of Derwentwater in the Lake District. Phil and Caet Cuthbert ventured north to complete the event. Caet said she was "Absolutely shattered" after the circuit that took in some spectacular views. Photos |
