Martin Connell with Mike Griffiths and other friends organised a team of 8 for the Adidas Thunder Run, a 24 hour endurance event, running from 12 noon Saturday through the night (with head-torches) till just after midday Sunday. Both Martin & Mike ran 4 laps in the 24 hours on a tricky 10k trail course with 400ft plus feet of incline. With thousands camping & running, teams of 5-8, pairs and even some 100-200km soloists took part. Martin said "It was inspiring to see and even better to take part in. The whole team won Adidas XT trail shoes after their female team captain was fastest on a timed 60m hill sprint. Everyone at Wallasey AC would enjoy this, both Mike & I had a fabulous time. Amazing atmosphere so different to a marathon." The team called "Gazelles With Attitude" finished 46th overall and completed 26 laps in the 24 hours. The race took place in Catton Park, Derbyshire.
