Wallasey's newly-elected ladies' captain, Marie Burke, celebrated by winning a 25km road race at Winsford in a time of 1 hour 46 minutes. Marie followed this with 4th place at the Merseyside Women's championship in the 3000-metres held at Kirkby.

Wallasey Athletic Club's junior athletes were in action in Chester on Saturday. Top performer was Leisel Phillips who collected two silver medals in the 100 and 200 metres, finals for-under-15 junior ladies. Her times of 13.1 and 27.4 were both personal bests and make her the fastest female athlete
