Northern Cross-Country Championships take place at Sherdley Park, St. Helens, this Saturday with a record entry in each class.
Over 400 runners are due to start in the 9 miles' senior event, about 160 are expected to run in the junior race over 6 miles and approximately 270 in the youths (3 miles). Wallasey Athletic Club has a team in each category, but main hopes are pinned on the junior and youth teams.
After their good performances over the same course in the West Lancashire Championships a fortnight ago, local athletes are expected to do well both individually and as teams.
