Homecroft held a 5½ miles handicap on Saturday, which was productive of some good racing.
J. S. Gilbertson occupied post of honour. P. T. Monks, with 3½ minutes start, was first, closely followed by Ladyman (4 mins. 15 secs.) and Isaac (4 mins.) Some good running was done by Mole, who accomplished best time, viz., 34 mins. 5secs. There is no doubt Mole will soon be in the front rank of long distance runners, provided he keeps well within bounds, and refrains from 'running out' on every occasion, a fault too often apparent in youngsters. H. H. Fleetwood acted as judge and timekeeper. To-day a slow run is down on the fixture card.
