The track season, certainly as far as Wallasey is concerned, ended last week-end when Len Platt rounded off his best-ever season with a win in the 100 yards handicap sprint at Salford.
Len won comfortably from quite a good class field in 9.4 seconds off 8½ yards, which in actual time is just a shade above evens.
He came through with his usual powerful run over the last 50 yards, and there seemed little doubt that he will be a force to be reckoned with in British athletics next track season.
Today's main event locally is the road relay race at Birkenhead which starts at 3 p.m. from the Co-operative Recreation Ground in Birkenhead Park.
There will be the usual club run over the country from Leasowe Road H.Q. commencing at 3-15 p.m.
It is hoped that as many members and friends as possible will attend the club's annual general meeting at Roycroft Hall, Seaview Road, on Thursday evening.
