In the Chester Autumn Sports at the Roodee on Bank Holiday, Wallasey Athletic Club's girls relay team (Penny Price, Margaret Collings, Dorothy Hughes and Joyce Greenslade) won their heat, and were only beaten in the final by Sutton, last year's Northern Counties winners.
Bob Johnston put up a fine performance in the five-miles open championship, losing third place by a narrow margin. The first three men home were the holder, R. McMinnis, Johnny Green and Trevor Holt.
In the 80 yards' schoolboys' handicap event, Bryan Bird, of W.A.C., gained third place.
