The novice championship of the above club was decided last Saturday from Headquarters. The trail was laid over a distance of 5 miles by L. D. Baker and the secretary.
A fairly large pack turned out just before the race and acted as clerks of the course, which proved a very necessary proceeding, owing to the large number of new men running. The race was a very interesting one, showing that the club has some useful talent amongst its new members. S. Hodson, who finished first, put up a capital performance, and will doubtless prove to be of great service to the club in the future. The following were the first six home - S. Hodson, 30min. 42sec.; S. Spence, 32min. 10sec.; T. Eastwood, 32min. 11sec.; B. J. Daniell, 33min. 28sec.; F. Theiker, 33min. 30sec.; G. H. Foster,- 34min. 10sec.
To-day the second social run takes place to Heswall from headquarters at 3.15. Next Saturday is the date fixed for the novice team race of the West Lancs. C.C.A., which will be held at Higher Tranmere.
