On Saturday last the above club had a visit from the Liscard Congregational Harriers. Trail was laid over a course of about seven miles, which included the Wallasey marshes, where some fine water jumps presented themselves, with the result that many of the runners went waist deep in the slush.
That young runner T. J. Brookes was first home, followed by W. E. Richmond (of West Cheshire Harriers), and Barley. The visitors won by 21 points.
This is the last of Homecroft's inter-club contests this season, and the medal offered for the highest aggregate score in such runs has been won by the captain. W. S. Brookes with a total of 36 points, J. B. Barley being second with 30 points.
Through the instrumentality of the Homecroft Athletic Club, the directors of the Tower Recreation Co. have greatly reduced the prices of training tickets for their splendidly equipped grounds at Molyneux-drive, New Brighton, which can be obtained shortly at the grounds' office for 2s. 6d. per month, or 5s. the season, so it is to be hoped that athletes who intend taking up the pastime during the coming summer will avail themselves of this offer.
