A goodly number of the members mustered last Saturday, in spite of the bad weather which prevailed, and the fact that there was no special fixture on the card, but, with a view to keeping themselves clean and fit, the course was reduced to about three miles on the road.
To-day (Saturday), the 20th instant, the first of the monthly handicaps takes place. It Is to be fire miles on the road. A start will be effected at 3-15 from the headquarters, Y.M.C.A., Manor-road, the route being via Withens-lane, Martins-lane, Central Park footpath, Mill-lane, Poulton Station, Breck-road, Wallasey Village, Grove-road, Warren-drive, Rowson-street, and Seabank-road to Manor-lane. As there are thirty-one entries, it is expected that there will be a record turn-out. Three prizes are offered, and the starts run out to seven and a half minutes. The usual invitation is extended to spectators.
