Watch Out for Wallasey Switch

Redevelopment work at New Brighton has caused a last minute change to the course for Sunday's Wallasey 10 mile race.

Organisers - Wallasey Athletic Club have, however, come up with a new course based on the one used for their 10 kilometres event.

The start will now be close to New Brighton Sailing Club, which is near the pitch and putt course.

Bob Phillips, Wallasey AC secretary, says: "We are sorry it is impossible to use the course that has proved so popular.

"But I am sure the runners will be delighted with the substitute route, which will be fully explained to them before the start."

The organisers are expecting quite a rush of entries on Sunday morning to take the total number of runners up to around the 200 mark. The fee will be £3 (£3.50 unattached).

The race is in aid of Alder Hey's 75th Birthday Appeal and those entering on the day are asked to register near the start at 10 a.m. The race gets under way at 11 a.m.
