Martin & Deb Connell, Mike Griffiths had a team with friends again at the Adidas Thunder Run, a 24 hour trail 10k relay from Saturday 12 p.m. through the day into night (so head torches needed) till Sunday 12 p.m. Camping was included in the cost, there was a brilliant festival atmosphere like the final hour of a marathon as people finish but lasts the 24 hours. Tough technical course, during the afternoon in blazing sun, in evening thunder & lightning, torrential rain for 8 hours meant running through water & nearly hypothermia overnight, becoming ridiculously muddy course, worse than most cross country. Yet everyone still smiling at the end. Mad, challenging but lots of fun. Mike and Martin both did 5 x 10k laps each, Deb Connell did 1. Congratulations to Mike first time he has run more than a marathon so officially an ultra runner now.
