The 50th running of the Birkenhead Park 5 Miler took place on a sunny evening in the park. The 32C on the eve of the race was not repeated on race night although it was still hot at 24C. Bob Brimage ran in the inaugural race in 1972 as a 19-year-old finishing in 28:05 and Bob also completed the fiftieth version in 43:43, a remarkable feat. Rob Pearse was first home for the club in fourth place in an impressive 27:39 and an age category win. Jan McArd was our first lady in eighth and also with an age category win.
