The weather was windy and wet for the 39th running of the Helsby Half Marathon. Neil Toner led the Wallasey contingent home with a 01:27:03. Neil said "The plan was to go out with the 1:30 Pacers and then around 11 miles put the hammer down. Didn't go to plan at the start as I was stuck behind the 1:45 pacers on a very congested start. It took me 3 miles to catch the 1:30 pacers which in turn made me run a lot quicker than planned at the start but felt good so thought what the hell. Around mile 10 I naturally went ahead of the pacers and then picked it up the last two miles. Overall a decent run and happy with the fitness."
