Wallasey Harriers & Athletic Club held their annual Christmas handicap last Saturday. A start in excellent weather was made from headquarters, the Wallasey Cricket Pavilion, Claremount-road, the course being over Bidston Moss, returning by way of the shore. The first four arrivals were : - W. G. Band. 27m., 30secs. W. G. Williams, 28m. , 40secs. R. G. Hyde, 33m. , 30secs. D. A. S. Seddon, 34m. , 0secs. The President, Mr. A. G. Nicholson - who is also President of the Northern Counties A. A. , and who absented himself from the big Leeds meeting held the same day, so that he could attend the Wallasey Club's run - in distributing the prizes, spoke of the need for a larger club, and remarked upon the necessity for the obvious keenness of all present. He voiced the opinion of all who had visited the club's headquarters that the dressing and general accommodation was the best in the district, and though the sport was great, the cost was small. In closing, he spoke warmly of the excellent performance of the winner in finishing in such good time. Hearty thanks were given by the members to Mr. Nicholson for his influential support, . and also to Mr. W. S. Brookes and for his, accurate, handicapping starting; and to Mr. Reg. Hyde for his organising of the meeting.
